Hello

My name is Gabriela Ducat and I am the CEO and Founder of  Jessimi Web Design,  a boutique agency based in South West London, UK, which offers digital services and support to SMEs, individuals, charities and communities.

I particularly focus my work on providing web design and other digital services to women  entrepreneurs. Being a female entrepreneur myself (and a mum), I feel that I can easily empathise with business women and enjoy building a strong and friendly relationship with them. No wonder that more than two thirds of my client base is represented by women entrepreneurs who own a business or are thinking of starting a new business.

My expertise is in website design, digital marketing, SEO, Google Analytics, logo design, brand development, user experience design, web hosting and business analysis.

Maintenance

I can look after your website to keep it safe and all its elements up to date. I offer maintenance contracts on a monthly, quarterly or ad-hoc basis. You decide how much maintenance you need in terms of number of hours and elements included.

Website Analytics

I have expertise in the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of web data for purposes of understanding and optimising the usage of your website.

I can set up Google Analytics on your website and integrated for you with the help of a plugin. This tool is used to monitor and provide regular analytics reports, which show the traffic on a website in terms of number of visitors, pages visited, entrance and exit points, duration of visits, source of traffic etc. If you wish, I can also provide more extensive analytics reports for you on an ad-hoc basis.

Research

Strategy

Using all the gathered data from research, I will craft the essential strategy for the web design. This is a crucial step to accomplish your goals and convert customers with clearly defined user paths, high impact headlines, calls to action or sales funnels.

Design and Development

This is where all the functionality and front-end magic happens and all the research and the strategy will be visualised. The final design will compliment the strategy and help you attract and convert your target audience into customers.

Launch

When the design is finished and all of the content is loaded, the website is thoroughly tested by both the client and me, and then signed off for going live.

Shortly before the new websites are live, I will provide you with training on how to use the website and how to update its content, using the WordPress admin dashboard.

My Story

This is my story about how I became a sole entrepreneur and my mission to establish myself as the best web designer in London for business women.

My Journey

When I decided to return to work after taking a three-year career break for raising 2 young children, I realised that I had a very difficult choice to make: either go back to a corporate role in an established organisation or set up my own business and become my own boss.
After a lot of research and brainstorming, I chose the latter option as it gave me more flexibility in organising my own time and achieving that elusive family-work balance. And I never looked back!

Like many other mothers, I was concerned that having children would change my life’s priorities and that I would end up torn by the emotional tug between home and work. That was true to start with, but then I realised that to succeed I would need a positive attitude and a lot of self-confidence. I decided to create a business where I could use the experience and the skills which I acquired in my previous roles as IT Business Analyst and Business Market Researcher. At the same time, I wanted to learn new skills to keep me motivated and help me to grow as a person and as a business leader. I realised very quickly that I would need to push myself out of my comfort zone and acquire multiple personalities almost overnight, to fulfil the multitude of roles which are vital in setting up your own business, all at the same time: director, secretary, accountant, lawyer, programmer, designer, marketing, etc.

For a long time, I had been very interested in the opportunities that the digital world creates, so I chose to set up a company that specialised in digital services and support for SMEs, charities, communities, start-ups and private individuals. I wanted my new company to be a beacon of hope and aspiration for my two daughters and other young women, which will show them that being a woman does not prevent them from achieving whatever dream they have in life, even if it happens to be in a male dominated environment such as information technology. I wanted to set a positive example to them and help them to feel empowered to overcome any obstacles they might encounter and achieve real equality in any role they choose to pursue. Therefore, when the time came to choose a name for my new business I opted to create a new unique one which incorporated the names of both my daughters, Jessie and Simi. And then Jessimi was born! Now my girls feel that they are part of the business and take a more personal interest in its success and future legacy.

My Mission

My mission as an entrepreneur is to help small businesses to get online and improve their digital presence in order to increase their market visibility.
My mission as a women entrepreneur is to help women from all walks of life whom want to set up their own businesses, by creating for them an efficient online presence and a robust platform for effective communication with their target audience.

In my business, I have special empathy for women entrepreneurs who are very well represented within my client base. More than 70% of my projects are for businesses which are owned or run by women in many different industries such as: nanny agency, care home for the elderly, non-profit directory of disability support services, non-profit parents’ directory for education services, interior designer, pre-school playgroup, graphic illustrator, professional house cleaning services, hypnotherapy and health centre, etc.I offer them free set-up consultations, a low-price structure, flexible payment terms and in some cases pro bono work.

I am hoping that my company will inspire the following qualities in my daughters and other young women who might consider a career in IT:

  • Confidence – a strong feeling of belief in their abilities; unfortunately, many women today are held back in their careers by a crippling lack of self-assurance
  • Never be afraid to learn something new– even if they don’t have the right qualifications it doesn’t mean that they can’t start a new career; it’s never too late to learn new skills!
  • Seek the right support system, such as a mentor, a coach, a support organisation, professional allies, trusted advisers
  • Challenge old stereotypes about what roles women can undertake in IT and research the new opportunities offered by the latest technologies
  • Think of IT as a creative field; a technical background is not a pre-requisite for starting a successful technology-based business
  • Keep their femininity without trying to emulate the men in the industry. Capitalise on women’s unique, intrinsically female characteristics. They should remember that being a woman, especially a mother, can have its advantages in IT as women have some additional qualities. They are usually very empathetic and can understand the requirements of their clients more fully, not only from a business perspective but also at an emotional level. They are also very good at problem solving, multi-tasking, rapport building and diplomatic communication.
